Last Updated on 24th June 2024

The Dutch government has chosen the ABP, APG, and SSE Renewables ('Noordzeker') consortium to advance with their bid in the 2 GW Alpha site of the IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Zone. The offshore wind project will be located about 62 kilometers off the Dutch coast of IJmuiden. It will have an installed capacity of around 2 GW, meeting around 7% of the Dutch electricity demand.

IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Zone is 62 kilometers off the west coast of the Netherlands. Three wind farm sites are designated in this wind farm zone (WFZ): IJV Alpha (formerly known as Sites I and II), Beta (formerly known as Sites III and IV), and Gamma (formerly known as Sites V and VI). These wind farm sites will accommodate 6,000 MW in total.

TSO TenneT will construct three offshore platforms with three grid connections in the IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Zone. A tender to develop IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Zone Gamma is scheduled to open in Q3 2025. Recently, Searium secured a massive HVDC contract.
