Nama PWP Inks $325 Million Deal for Ghubrah 3 Desalination Plant in Oman

Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Nama PWP) has inked an agreement valued at USD 325 million for the construction of the Ghubrah 3 desalination plant. Nama Power and Water Company signed an agreement with a consortium named capital desalination company for the third phase project of the Ghubrah desalination plant. The Ghubrah 3 project is set to be Oman's largest desalination plant.

Capital Desalination Company will be in charge of developing the project. Furthermore, with a projected production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day, the plant will cover an area of 70.4 thousand square meters. The desalination plant is expected to commence operations in the first quarter of 2027.

The facility will also include a 45,000-cubic-meter potable water reservoir. Utilizing reverse osmosis technology, the Ghubrah 3 desalination plant exemplifies Oman's commitment to sustainable water management and infrastructure development in alignment with the national objectives of Vision Oman 2040.

 

Eng Abdulaziz bin Said al Shidhani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nama PWP, affirmed the company's unwavering commitment to addressing the burgeoning water and energy needs of the country through strategic investments and cutting-edge desalination projects in Oman . "The Ghubrah 3 desalination plant exemplifies our dedication to ensuring a sustainable and reliable water supply for our communities," stated Engineer Al Shidhani.
