Bharat Heavy Electricals Secures $2 Billion EPC Contract for Talabira Thermal Power Project

Bharat Heavy Electricals received a USD 2 billion EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract from NLC India. BHEL will set up the 2400 MW NLC Talabira Thermal Power Project in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district. The contract scope of BHEL includes engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, and commissioning of equipment such as boilers, turbines, and generators for the plant.

The USD 2 billion EPC contract is set to be executed within 64 months. The first unit is scheduled for commissioning in the years 2028–2029. The primary equipment will be produced in BHEL's production units, which are located in Varanasi, Bhopal, Haridwar, Hyderabad, Jhansi, Bengaluru, Ranipet, and Haridwar. Once operational, it will provide much-needed electricity to the eastern states of India.
