ReNew Plans to Invest $3 Billion to Develop a Green Hydrogen Project in Kerala, India

ReNew plans to invest USD 3 billion to develop a green hydrogen production facility in Kerala. The green hydrogen production facility will have a capacity of approximately 220 KTPA. Furthermore, the project will be developed near Vizhinjam port in Kerala, where the green hydrogen will be exported to other markets. Additionally, the facility will produce 1,100 KTPA of green ammonia.

The project will use a 2 GW capacity electrolyzer, which produces 14,000 million units of power annually from 5 GW to 6 GW renewable energy plants. The project is expected to generate around 18,000 direct and indirect job opportunities. The project is planned to be completed in three phases.

The first phase will have 100 KTPA of green hydrogen production capacity, while phases 2 and 3 will have 500 KTPA of capacity each. The project is expected to be completed within 36 to 42 months. The project requires 50 million liters of water per day.
