PowerHouse Plans to Build 800 MW Data Center Campus in Virginia

PowerHouse Data Centers has announced plans to build an 800 MW data center campus in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. The campus, known as PowerHouse 95, will be located along the I-95 corridor and will have access to two existing substations, with a third substation under development.

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed in October 2025 and will provide 150 MW of power.  The campus will also have 3.5 million square feet of cleanroom space and will be able to accommodate hyperscale users, which are companies that require a lot of data storage and processing power.

PowerHouse is a joint venture between American Real Estate Partners (AREP) and Harrison Street. The company was founded in 2022 and has already developed a data center campus in Ashburn, Virginia, which was leased to CyrusOne in May 2023.

 

The PowerHouse 95 project is one of several large data center projects that are being planned in Virginia. The state is home to a number of major technology companies, such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, and is becoming a major hub for the data center industry. The project is expected to create hundreds of jobs during construction and operation.
