PM Modi Lays Foundation for 4 Power Projects Worth $3 Billion in Uttar Pradesh

In a significant boost to Uttar Pradesh's energy sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for four power projects worth USD 3 billion (INR 25,000 crore) on February 19, 2024. Torrent Power is developing these projects, which include a 150 MW solar power plant in Lalitpur district, a green hydrogen facility in Gorakhpur, and two pumped storage projects with a total capacity of 4.15 GW in the Sonbhadra district.

The MoU for these initiatives was signed during the UP Global Investors' Summit 2023, underscoring the state's commitment to attracting investments and fostering infrastructure development. The foundation stone-laying ceremony took place during the "Ground-breaking Ceremony 4.0" in Lucknow on Monday.

The economic impact of these ventures is expected to be substantial, with Torrent Power estimating the creation of direct and indirect employment opportunities for around 8,000 people in Uttar Pradesh.
