Penta Infra breaks ground on a 4.4 MW datacenter in Hamburg, Germany. The colocation facility will go live by early 2025. The data center facility will cover an area of 2500 square meters of cleanroom space.
The data centre will operate exclusively on renewable energy sources. In addition to utilising heat re-use technology, the front facade of the data centre will be outfitted with integrated solar panels.
Patrick van der Wilt, chief commercial officer at Penta Infra, stated that the new data center in Hamburg plays a significant role in the European data center facility market. Hamburg is situated in a strategically advantageous region of northern Germany. It gives access to the Nordic countries and both Western and Northern Europe. The port city is renowned for its thriving academic institutions and universities, as well as its abundance of innovative technology companies and startups.
Penta Infra is a fast-growing company specializing in edge data centers across Europe. They boast a reputation for offering reliable, sustainable, and highly connected facilities, making them a top choice for businesses seeking efficient data storage and processing solutions.
Edge data centers are essentially smaller, geographically distributed data centers positioned closer to end users and devices that generate or consume data. Think of them as mini data centers located at the "edge" of the network, as opposed to traditional, large, centralized data centers.
