Neoen Wins Contract to Build Second Largest BESS Project in Canada

Neoen announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Shift Solar Inc., has secured a  contract to develop a 380 MW/4 hour battery energy storage system project in Canada. The project, named Grey Owl Storage, will be located in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie, Bruce County, Ontario. The operator of Ontario's electric grid initiated a competitive tender and awarded the project a 20-year contract. Grey Owl storage will be Canada’s second-largest BESS project.

Additionally, Grey Owl Storage, with a 400 MW/1,600 MWh capacity, will deliver the 20-year contract to improve the stability and reliability of Ontario's electricity grid. The battery is set to be operational by early 2028. Neoen, through its subsidiary Shift Solar, will be the long-term owner and operator of the battery.

In addition to Grey Owl Storage, Neoen’s portfolio of assets in Canada already includes the 93 MW under-construction solar farm in Alberta, which is scheduled for commissioning in the coming weeks.
