L&T Secures $600 Million Contract to Construct 12 Km Bridge in Assam

Larsen and Toubro, one of the largest EPC companies in India, has been awarded a USD 600 million (large) project contract to construct the Palashbari to Sualkuchi Cable-Stayed Bridge across the river Brahmaputra in Assam. The Public Works Roads Department (PwRD), Assam, has entrusted L&T Construction with the task of constructing a 12.21 km bridge, complete with approaches, to connect Palashbari and Sualkuchi directly.

The project entails a 3.6 km cable-stayed bridge portion, along with a 5.61 km approach on the Palashbari side and a 3.0 km approach on the Sualkuchi side, inclusive of wetland approach viaducts. The cable-stayed portion will feature a maximum span of 165 m. Scheduled to be completed within 48 months, the bridge will also establish a direct connection to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU), Assam.
