Eneco has submitted its planning application for the construction of an 800MW green hydrogen production plant in the Rotterdam Europort industrial area. Eneco is working together with Mitsubishi through its Eneco Diamond Hydrogen joint venture. The green hydrogen plant will be operational in 2029, with construction scheduled to begin in 2026.

Additionally, Eneco plans to co-locate the green hydrogen electrolyzer project with its Enecogen gas-fired power plant in the Netherlands. The main objective is to share a common infrastructure between the two facilities, including grid connection, water access, and office space.
Key Features of the complex
- The plant will use electrolysis to split water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity from renewable sources.
- The plant will be located in the Europoort industrial area, which is well-connected to the electricity grid and has access to a port for exporting green hydrogen to other markets.
- The plant will use state-of-the-art technology to ensure that it is efficient and sustainable.
