Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has started the construction and has taken the final investment decision (FID) for a 300 MW onshore wind project in Karnataka, India. CIP is partnering with Viviid Renewables to develop this project.
CIP and Viviid will jointly design and construct the wind farm. CIP placed equipment orders for the entire capacity of the project. Viviid Renewables will provide balance-of-plant services. This will be the first project constructed under the partnership between CIP and Viviid Renewables.
In January 2023, the joint venture entered into a framework agreement to develop 1.8 GW of renewable energy projects in India. Siddharth Mehra, founder of Viviid Renewables, says, “Through this long-term partnership, we aim to further strengthen our contribution to India’s ambitious target of installing 500 GW of generation capacity from renewable sources by 2030.”
Apart from establishing offices in Mumbai, CIP has partnered with AmpIn Energy Transition and Viviid. CIP will construct and commission several renewable power projects and intends to further expand its operations in the Indian market in collaboration with new and prospective partners. Furthermore, CIP is exploring opportunities in adjacent technologies such as offshore and nearshore wind, hydrogen, etc.
