Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a USD 15 billion investment in Japan over the next five years to expand its cloud computing infrastructure. AWS will use the investment to expand facilities in the metropolises of Tokyo and Osaka to meet growing customer demand. Additionally, the company will use investments to develop additional data center facilities and strengthen its business operations.

Additionally, the company offers generative AI services to Japanese corporate customers, like Asahi Group, Marubeni, and Nomura Holdings.

The AWS Japan unit announced the investment plan during a press conference in Tokyo. Furthermore, the conglomerate has already invested around USD 10 billion in 12 years between 2011 and 2022.
