The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved three new corridors as part of Delhi Metro's Phase V(A) project on December 24, 2025. The approved corridors include R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, spanning 9.913 kilometers, Aerocity to IGD Airport T-1, covering 2.263 kilometers, and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj, extending 3.9 kilometers, totaling 16.076 kilometers of new metro connectivity within the national capital.

Project Cost and Funding Structure

The total project cost for Delhi Metro's Phase V(A) project is INR 12,014.91 crore. The funding will be sourced from multiple entities, including the Government of India, the Government of Delhi, and international funding agencies. The Central Vista corridor is designed to provide connectivity to all Kartavya Bhawans, offering doorstep access for office workers and visitors in the area.

Expected Ridership and Environmental Benefits

The new connectivity is projected to benefit approximately 60,000 office workers and 200,000 visitors daily. These corridors are expected to reduce pollution and decrease the use of fossil fuels, while enhancing the quality of life for residents of the national capital.

Corridor Details and Extensions

The R.K Ashram Marg to Indraprastha section will serve as an extension of the existing Botanical Garden-R.K. Ashram Marg corridor. This extension will provide Metro connectivity to the Central Vista area, which is currently undergoing redevelopment. The Aerocity to IGD Airport Terminal 1 and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj sections will extend the existing Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor, enhancing connectivity between the airport and southern parts of the national capital, including Tughlakabad, Saket, and Kalindi Kunj.

The three extensions will comprise 13 stations in total, with 10 stations constructed underground and 3 elevated. Upon completion, the R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha corridor will improve connectivity between West, North, and Old Delhi with Central Delhi. The other two corridors will connect South Delhi with the domestic Airport Terminal-1 via Saket and Chattarpur, significantly boosting connectivity within the National Capital.
