Rays Power Infra Secures 200 MW Round-the-Clock Renewable Energy Project from Indian Railways
Rays Power Infra, through its subsidiary Bhalki Solar Power, has officially secured a major mandate to develop and construct a 200 MW Round-the-Clock renewable energy project for the Railways Energy Management Corporation Limited (REMCL).
Project Specifications and Timeline
The round-the-clock renewable energy project is designed to supply continuous green power to the Railways Energy Management Corporation. The comprehensive system will combine solar and wind generation capacity exceeding 700 MW with battery energy storage systems providing more than 1,000 MWh of storage capacity.
The project is scheduled for commissioning by June 2028. Rays Power Infra will deploy its own solar and wind parks for developing this project, utilizing the infrastructure the company has been developing across multiple locations.
Financial Impact
The project will add approximately USD 529.24 million to Rays Power Infra's order book. This represents a significant addition to the company's contracted revenue pipeline and demonstrates the scale of the renewable energy commitment from Indian Railways.
The company plans to use modules manufactured using solar cells sourced from Rays Power's upcoming cell manufacturing facility under its subsidiary, Rays Green Energy, which is currently under construction in Madhya Pradesh.

Strategic Development and Market Position
Ketan Mehta, Managing Director of Rays Power Infra, explained that this win represents the culmination of a development journey that began two years ago when the company undertook the development of solar-wind co-located hybrid sites across multiple locations. These efforts have delivered significant cost competitiveness and maximized utilization of evacuation infrastructure, enabling the company to achieve one of the lowest LCOEs in the industry.
Mehta stated that the company will be leveraging this strategic advantage across several projects, with expectations for many more such developments and wins in their portfolio over the coming years. This approach positions the company to win projects more confidently without compromising profitability while continuing to create superior value for customers.
Industry Applications and Future Opportunities
Vaibhav Roongta, Chief Business Officer at Rays Power Infra, noted that the RTC renewable energy model aligns strongly with India's national objective of building 24x7 green power ecosystems. The project is expected to contribute significantly to enhancing grid stability, reducing dependence on conventional energy sources, and supporting the country's decarbonization goals.
The project will integrate diverse renewable assets and advanced storage systems, ensuring a firm power supply during non-solar hours while maintaining cost efficiency. According to the company, the RTC framework and design will open new opportunities for future green power applications, including green hydrogen, green ammonia, AI data centers, and other high-energy-intensive sectors.
Company Portfolio and Capacity
Rays Power Infra currently maintains a diversified renewable energy portfolio of approximately 11,665 MWp, comprising solar, wind, and hybrid projects. As of now, the company has commissioned capacity of about 2,247.30 MWp. The company's development pipeline includes a contracted capacity of 4,029.43 MWp, an under-development capacity of 3,889 MWp, and 2,300 MWp of capacity at advanced stages across 13 States and one Union Territory in India.
This extensive portfolio demonstrates the company's significant presence in India's renewable energy sector and its capacity to execute large-scale projects across diverse geographic locations.
