These projects will boost the green hydrogen sector in the state.
The entities involved in the green hydrogen projects are:
Welspun New Energy Limited is set to establish a green hydrogen and green ammonia manufacturing plant in Kendrapada district with an investment of approximately USD 1 billion. This project is expected to create over 1,000 direct employment opportunities and produce around 700,000 metric tons per year (MTPA) of green ammonia.
ReNew E-Fuels Private Limited (REFPL) has received approval for two green hydrogen plants. One, with a production capacity of 100 KTPA, will be located in the Malkangiri district, and the other, with a capacity of 60 KTPA, will be in the Rayagada district. Additionally, REFPL will develop two green methanol manufacturing units in these districts. The total investment for these projects is around USD 2 billion.
